SHAH ALAM: Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad has dismissed rumours that PAS has recommended Ijok assemblyman Dr.Idris Ahmad as the “compromise candidate” to break the deadlock over the Selangor menteri besar post.
Khalid said the rumours were an attempt by certain quarters to cause a rift between PKR and PAS on the menteri besar post.
“The fate of Khalid Ibrahim as the menteri besar will be discussed on Aug 10,” he told FMT today.

Khalid was commenting on a Sin Chew daily report saying PAS was expected to name Dr.Idris, a gynaecologist, as a compromise candidate to end the crisis which has threatened to split Pakatan Rakyat.
The daily also reported that Khalid Ibrahim and the Selangor palace had no objection to Dr.Idris being made the menteri besar.
However, PKR secretary-general Saifudin Nasution Ismail said PAS should respect PKR’s right to choose the menteri besar.
He said the party’s central leadership council meeting on July 21 had decided that its president, Dr.Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would replace Khalid.
“PKR has only one candidate to replace Khalid and that is Dr.Wan Azizah,” said Saifudin.
Khalid, who has been under pressure by DAP and PKR to step down, however, wants to remain in office until the end of his term.
