KUALA LUMPUR: DAP will regret bullying PAS and the party will suffer in the end, said Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, son of PAS Spiritual Leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
“If DAP continues to take PAS for granted, we may fight back one day and they will have a lot to lose.
“DAP will probably lose Chinese and Indians votes because the people want to see harmony, truthfulness and camaraderie,” he said.Nik Abduh added, “When that time comes, the only way for DAP to save itself is by teaming up with UMNO.”
He also said being bullied was nothing new to PAS as the Islamist party had been pushed and shoved around by UMNO for the longest time.
“But now DAP, and to a lesser extent PKR, are badgering us too.
“They have been instigating Pakatan Rakyat supporters to be wary of us even while we are still partners in the coalition.
In the statement, Nik Abduh said this was probably so because PAS was not “aggressive” and the party had resigned itself to being bullied.
He observed that despite this, PAS had enjoyed success in the past and had won many elections, even coming to power in some states.
He said, ”Despite the bullying, PAS has become more open minded and progressive while remaining steadfast in upholding Islam.
“DAP should not think that PAS is finished because of the issues in Selangor, neither should it be arrogant and behave like UMNO,” he added.
He said PAS had long tasted power in Kelantan and Terengganu but preferred not to show off or lord it over the others.
The Pasir Mas MP also said he was confident PAS would continue to thrive as it was a party that championed Islam.
”Perhaps PAS will die off if others can do a better job in fighting for Islam, but it looks unlikely,” he said adding that contenders like Pasma (Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia) were merely pretenders.
