Reject post if PAS candidate chosen as Selangor MB

BATU PAHAT: Perlis delegate Wan Kharizal Wan Khazim urged the party to reject the position of Menteri Besar of Selangor should the party’s candidates be appointed to the post.

He said that the move would be in line with the party’s value or integrity and keeping promises.
“PAS has promised to it’s friends in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) during the meeting on Aug 17 that it will reject the position of the Menteri Besar should it’s candidate be selected. We need to send a clear signal that we stand with PR.

“We have to reject it to stress to our members that we hold on to our integrity,” he said.
Negeri Sembilan representative Mohd Khairul Anuar Wafa agreed with the recommendations, saying that the rejection should be upheld out of respect for the respectful pact formed by the three parties in PR.
There were however dissenting voices in the form of Kelantan delegate Ahmad Fadhli Shaari and Penang delegate Izuri Ibrahim, who said that good relations with the Sultan and the Malay rulers was important for PAS leaders and members in order to not garner ill-will from the Malay community. He urged members and leaders to not make statements disrespectful of the Sultan.
On the topic of PAS deputy president Mat Sabu’s disagreement with party president Hadi Awang, Ahmad Fadhli said that Mat Sabu’s actions were “shameful, adding that “I respect the deputy president, even though we are not close, but I was extremely saddened that when the president made a decision, Mat Sabu said it was only the president’s personal decision.
“Even though there was a difference of opinion, don’t say it publicly because it will confuse the members. I believe the president is very lenient, but what was done by the deputy president was very shameful.”
In the meantime, Ahmad Fadhli wanted PAS to investigate the disclosure of the results of the PAS central committee meeting on the matter of the candidates for the Selangor Menteri Besar.
“Find out who leaked the secrets in the meeting, because even before the meeting was over there were blogs spilling out secrets,” he said.
