KUALA LUMPUR: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok lodged a police report against her former aide Tony Tan Chee Chong and DAP member Danny Leong Eng Tiom for spreading lies and defaming her since last month.
“Since Jan 8 to Feb 10, both have been constantly accusing me of abusing and misappropriating party funds.
” The funds have been audited by an audit firm, Ecolvis AHL Chartered Accountants,”Kok said after lodging a police report at the Brickfields district police headquarters in Sri Petaling this morning.
“Do you think I would abuse the DAP Seputeh’s funds? I spend RM 14,000 just to run my service centres monthly and I spend RM2,000 just on the auditors,” she said.
Tan’s services as an aide was terminated in 2007 for allegedly misusing funds, said Kok.
On Monday, Tan and Leong lodged a complaint to the Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC), alleging that the DAP national vice chair person had embezzled RM112,000 that was meant to be funds for last year’s general elections .
Tan claimed the funds were used to make 8,000 figurines of Kok at a price of RM6 and sold at RM20. The profits were, however, not recorded in DAP’s accounts.
The duo also questioned Kok’s expenditure of RM300,000 for a professional campaigner whom Kok claimed as a friend of hers.
Tan had made the first complaint to MACC against Kok last year.
In an immediate response, Kok have refuted Tan and Lim’s claims and revealed that the courts have previously ordered Tan to pay Kok RM200,000 after he attempted to sue her for defamation.
The MACC also had previously cleared Kok of similar allegations made by Tan.
On the second report to MACC, Kok said she welcomed them to investigate and will give them her full cooperation.
She also revealed that Tan had failed to pay her RM200,000 in court costs after his suit against her was dismissed.
On allegations that she had spend RM300,000 for her campaigner, Kok said the allegation was made by a disgruntled party member, Seputeh DAP’s former chairman Wong Choo Chieng.
“He (Wong) is just unhappy that I did not appoint him as my campaign manager,” she said.
