‘RM40m not for football alone’

PETALING JAYA: PKNS Football Club (PKNS FC) today denied allegations by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin that it has spent RM40 million since 2008 and that its accounts are in a mess.

Sources in the club confirmed that it had received a total of RM40m since 2008, but said the money was shared with other sports agencies in the state.
“Yes, the RM40 million is a huge amount of money, but it has not been used totally on football,” one of the sources told FMT. “It was shared amongst other sports agencies such as the Futsal Academy”.

However, none of the sources had an explanation to counter Raja Petra’s allegation that “no one can figure out” how the money has been spent.
FMT was unable to contact PKNS FC President Siti Zubaidah Jabar for her response.
Raja Petra made his allegations in an article posted on his blog today, a day after Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim announced the formation of a task force to check financial irregularities in PKNS (Selangor State Development Corporation).
Khalid also told the press yesterday that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission was investigating allegations that funds meant for the PKNS FC had been misused.
Founded in 1964, PKNS FC is currently in the second season of first tier Malaysian football, the Malaysia Super League. On Tuesday, PKNS FC lost 2-3 to home team Kelantan in the first-leg tie of their FA Cup quarter-final match.
