Raja Bomoh: Karpal died at a haunted spot

PETALING JAYA: Ibrahim Mat Zin, the self-styled World Bomoh King, has offered to cleanse Malaysia’s major interstate highways of the evil spirits that he says are responsible for accidents like the one which killed veteran politician and senior lawyer Karpal Singh last week.

In a video interview posted on Suara TV, he says the jungles through which the highways cut are the natural haunts of evil spirits.
“There is a need for the North South Expressway and the East Coast Expressway to be neutralised,” he says.

“I’m willing to fly in a helicopter from Johor Bahru to Perlis and along the East Coast Expressway to neutralise them.
“I ask everyone to cooperate with me. I’m not charging any fee. I’m doing this because I care about the safety of highway users. I want them to be safe on the highways so they can celebrate Hari Raya, Chinese New Year and Deepavali peacefully.”
The video also shows Ibrahim performing a ritual at the spot on the North-South Expressway where Karpal met his death.
He says in the interview that the spot is part of a stretch that is notorious for the appearance of ghosts and the occurrence of fatal accidents.
“On this stretch, people have reported seeing headless humans and apparitions of animals such as elephants, lions and cows.”
Ibrahim claims that he is a descendant of Datuk Maharaja Lela, the Malay nationalist who in 1875 killed JWW Birch, the British administrator of Perak.
In an immediate reaction, the Perak PAS Youth wing said it was disappointed with the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) for not acting against Ibrahim despite having opened an investigation against the bomoh.
“The Muslims in Perak are shocked to see him in action near Karpal’s accident spot. It is as though he is still free to conduct his activities despite being advised by Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria to repent,” said Perak PAS Youth chief Raja Ahmad Iskandar Al-Hiss in a statement.
“We are disappointed and embarrassed with JAIPk’s inaction against Ibrahim,” he said.
