GEORGE TOWN: A group of PAS demonstrators called on the party leadership to dissolve the Syura Council if it failed to annul the decision taken at the Aug 17 meeting to nominate PKR president Wan Azizah and deputy Azmin Ali for the Menteri Besar post.

They want PAS to stick to its original stand and support Khalid Ibrahim as adopted by the Syura Council.

The group leader, former Bukit Gelugor independent candidate Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohamed Abdul Sathar, rejected the PAS central committee’s decision to nominate Wan Azizah and Azmin for the post.
Mohamed Nabi Bux said the PAS central committee was dominated by “Anwarinas”, referring to parliamentary opposition and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
The protesters displayed banners in the half-an-hour demonstration outside Masjid Jamek Melayu Lebuh Acheh after Friday prayers.
The protesters called on PAS to expel the Anwar supporters, who were stooges of PKR and DAP.
Mohamed Nabi Bux said the central committee was influenced by an outsider at the meeting on Aug 17.
He said he received information that central committee members were busy with their mobile phones while PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was delivering his speech at the meeting.
“PAS should revert to its original position and support Khalid, otherwise, it will undermine the credibility of the Syura Council.
“If the PAS leadership cannot take a firm stand to declare the central committee’s decision null and void, then the Syura Council should be dissolved,” said Mohamed Nabi Bux, the former secretary of PAS Kampung Banjar branch in Batu Caves, Selangor.
He recalled that PAS backed Anwar when he was sacked from Umno in 1998, and hence there was nothing wrong to support Khalid despite being expelled from PKR.
“Anwar was from our enemy’s camp but Khalid is one of us. We should help Khalid,” he said.
