PETALING JAYA: The ongoing Selangor Menteri Besar crisis has put the Kidex highway issue on the back burner.

But, the “Say NO to Kidex” (SNTK) committee and residents in the affected area are hopeful the Kinrara-Damansara highway project will be scrapped.
Mak Khuin Weng, a committee member of the SNTK, stated that Khalid’s removal from PKR will not have any effect on the decision on Kidex as the Selangor government has already given their approval.

“So long as Khalid is too busy fighting with other Pakatan members over the control of the state government, we don’t expect approval for Kidex to move forward, but you never know,” he added.
He mentioned today that SNTK is still trying to raise awareness while waiting for KIDEX Sdn Bhd to provide documents to study.
These documents include the Traffic Impact Assessment, the Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment and the drawings for the highway’s alignment.
As of today, the committee has over 3,000 signatures and have distributed 20,000 copies of leaflets to residents in Petaling Jaya.
Mak added,”What we have achieved in the meantime is a reprieve in the sense that the Land Acquisition Gazette to acquire the private homes of residents needed to allow the project to proceed, has lapsed”.
