The new Sang Saka Malaya flag by Pakatan Rakyat were hoist by their activists in conjunction with the 56th Merdeka Day Celebration, has really attract a lot of people attention. Even though not everyone agrees with the action, but that is the culture of change. It will be hard at first, but give it time. The plan to change Malaysia’s history has to start from the national flag, because that is one of the most memorable aspects of a nation. But choosing the name Sang Saka Malaya will be a bit difficult and it will cause trouble in the future. This is because the Sang Saka Malaya are still holding to the word Melayu (“Malay”a)! Even though that this country is not totally populated by Malays, but also Chinese, Indian, and other Bumiputera’s from Sabah & Sarwak. Other names should be created so that it will go hand in hand with the differendt races and culture of the country; this is because it cannot be about ethnicity alone. We need to understand, DAP is trying their best to promote the Malays as immigrant (same as the Chinese and Indian), and the name Malaya (Malay) should not be put as the name of the new flag that will be shown by Pakatan Rakyat. The Malays can’t be perceived as an immigrant if the name of the flag consists of the name of the Malay race. That is why we see all the Malays are not deterred by the new flag as it still has their names on the flag. We are informed, after the flag; PR will also change the name of this country so that it will show a good image of a multiracial nation. This is appropriate with the ambition of the Pakatan Rakyat to re-write the history so that it can be well received by Malaysians, no matter who they are after the PR take over the country in 2018. This will avoid any race from feeling superior to another. All of this have to be done slowly as there would be opposition from those who do not understand the re-branding of the nation. UMNO and its allies at that time must fight against the decision and they may take action that will disrupt the security and peace of the country. Pakatan Rakyat has to re-evaluate every possibility even though the 14th General Election is too early to be discussed. It is better for us to prepare than to despair. |
