Coming soon: Rally to oppose BN’s corrupt practices

SHAH ALAM: PAS has passed a resolution for a rally led by Pakatan Rakyat leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGO) to be held soon.

The rally was proposed in order to reveal all the corruption and abuses of funds done by the government, as revealed by the Auditor-General’s (AG) report.
The motion which was proposed by the PAS central committee and the Dewan Ulama also urged the government to revoke the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) and Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

While debating the motion, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu said a rally must be held, other than conducting forums and dialogues, for the people to relay the message to the government.
“The AG’s reports revealed year in and year out the government’s misuse of funds involving billions of ringgit.
“Also recently, misuse of the country’s executive jets by the Prime Minister’s wife (Rosmah Mansor) has been revealed,” he said.
Due to all these, Mohamad Sabu explained the government should have addressed fighting corruption and wastage first before implementing the GST and TPPA.
“Previously, only 5% of the population have to pay tax. With the GST, everyone will be taxed,” he said.
Meanwhile, a PAS Tambun delegate said that no matter how much funds they have, the government will be spending lavishly.
“Also, the GST will increase the inflation rate which will lead to unemployment and savings will decline,” he said.
Dewan Ulama delegate Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said it was haram (prohibited) for the government to impose taxes on the people so long as there are leakages.
“We have economic problems because people do not follow God’s orders. Give Islam a year, we will solve economic problems,” he promised.
