Sabah gets yet another political party

KOTA KINABALU : The Federal Government has approved yet another political party in Sabah – the Parti Kerjasama Rakyat Sabah or in short PAKAR.

PAKAR was approved in November 2013 and the party is now organising its first annual general meeting (AGM) this Saturday to elect or confirm its supreme council lineup.

Efforts to reach PAKAR protem president, Zainal Nasiruddin, were futile, however one of its deputy presidents, Paulus Gani, when contacted, confirmed the ROS approval and the AGM being held this weekend.

“Yes ROS has notified us of our approval and in fact we have the copy of our certificate already but we would only take the original on Jan 8 in Kuala Lumpur,” he said claiming that PAKAR was the only one approved this time around.

Weeks ago, ROS announced the approval for 20 new political parties, 10 of them are Sabah-based, but PAKAR was not one of them then. PAKAR was then still involved in a court tussle with ROS over the non-committal stand by ROS over PAKAR’s years of waiting.

In the past, Zainal had said that when approved, PAKAR aspires to represent the Bumiputeras in Sabah, regardless if they are Muslim or non-Muslims.
