Anwar distances himself from Zaid-Rafizi spat

KAJANG: PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim has distanced himself from the on going spat between Rafizi Ramli and Zaid Ibrahim. Anwar said yesterday former minister Zaid Ibrahim should respond to PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli.

“And let him (Zaid) respond to Rafizi’s statements. I have spoken to Rafizi and he told me that he is prepared with evidence,” said Anwar, during a hi-tea session at the residence of PKR Hulu Langat division chief, popularly known as Cikgu Ridwan.
Zaid has also shown his intention to contest in the Kajang by-election.

Rafizi had claimed yesterday that Zaid  had used the party for his personal gains.
Rafizi, who is also Pandan MP, alleged that Zaid had approached him personally in 2010 to interfere in two projects, one related to 26 acres of land, and another involving two plots of premium land in Petaling Jaya.
Rafizi produced an email correspondence dated June 25, 2010, in which Zaid had purportedly said that the matter was ‘another easy call.’
“Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor having ‘dispute’ with state govt what to do with 26 acre land in Batu. My client Teamwork has proposed (joint venture) with Hartanah. Just need Tan Sri (Khalid Ibrahim) to okay proposal,” reads the email.
Zaid was then serving as the chief executive of the Selangor Academic Advisor’s Board.
However, Rafizi said that he had informed Zaid to go through proper procedure for the matter.
Zaid, who is also former law minister, would hold a press conference later today to address the matter.
