Tian Chua: Saifuddin can deliver

PETALING JAYA: Batu MP Tian Chua is confident that Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will be able to deliver should he win the race for PKR deputy president.

Tian Chua, who has dropped out of the race for deputy president, said he had been working closely with Saifuddin and know the current secretary-general could deliver.
“I pulled out because there are many candidates contesting. It is encouraging and positive that so many people are up to the challenge,” he said.

The Batu MP believes that opting out of the race for the deputy presidency would not hinder his active role in PKR.
He added that he would still be defending his vice presidency.
Tian Chua said although there were weaknesses, the party had faced the challenges.
“PKR has many different categories of people and connecting everyone can be a huge challenge, especially the grassroots members.
“The grassroots members are not in touch with the MPs and may not even know the bills the lawmakers are trying to pass.
“It is important that to keep in touch with the grassroots members and that is what I set out to achieve,” he said.
Tian Chua said as a party built on a mass movement, PKR was aware of the strength of the grassroots.
“At the same time, we recognise the need to include more reformed bureaucrats as well as successful businessmen.
“Grassroots members will probably wonder what is going on with the party, which is why we have to synchronise. I believe as vice-president, I can play a role to push forward with my duties,” he said.
