Teresa Kok: Dyana will be a formidable MP

Dyana Sofya
PETALING JAYA: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok believes that Umno is frightened of DAP’s Teluk Intan by-election candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud for her courage and her Malaysian-first commitment.

Kok was commenting on Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil who had claimed that Dyana was only a DAP puppet.
“Such line of attacks are typical of Umno against Malays who have joined DAP or contested in general elections as DAP candidates.

“If elected as the Teluk Intan MP, she will surely become one of the Opposition MPs whom Umno fears most in Parliament.
On Dyana who was labelled a traitor for suggesting a UiTM-type university to be set up to help needy non-Malays, Kok pointed out how Dyana had stood her ground and “roared like a tigress”.
“In her rebuttal, she pointed out that while UiTM had a noble objective, which is to help needy students, its purpose had changed over the years.”
Kok said that Umno has been able to maintain its Malay support by various ways such as unfair constituency delineation and manipulation of race politics.
“The battle against Umno’s politics of race and hence against Umno’s political power requires sustained momentum and a DAP victory in the Teluk Intan by-election is very important.
“Dyana’s victory will also be a victory for the Malaysian First concept,” said Kok.
