Teluk Intan polls only the beginning for Dyana

Teluk Intan
KUALA LUMPUR: Newcomer in politics, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud pledged to come out even more stronger in the future claiming that last night’s defeat to veteran Mah Siew Keong as a great achievement in her political career.

The 27-year-old candidate also thanked the people of Teluk Intan for their tremendous support despite the negative and malicious campaigning throughout the two week period.
“It has been a two-week whirlwind campaign, and although we may not have achieved our ultimate goal of winning this by-election, I don’t think anyone can deny that we gave our all against the might of the entire federal government machinery.

“Despite the negative and malicious campaigning, the people of Teluk Intan have shown their strong support for the ideas, struggles and principles that my party and I stand for.
“I believe that this result is a great achievement for me personally, as well as a progressive step forward for the party,” she said in a statement.
The ex-UiTM law graduate expressed her confidence that the loss was not the end of her political career but merely a beginning and admitted that she had accepted the outcome positively.
“In spite of the tremendous odds stacked against us, we managed to knock down barriers previously thought impossible, and that is the real victory,”
“This is not the end but merely the beginning. If there is one thing I have learned from the last two weeks, it is that there are thousands if not millions of Malaysians who also believe in the goal of “Malaysianising” Malaysia,”
“ I promise that the day will come when we will all roar together for a new Malaysia,”
Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mah Siew Keong recaptured the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat after defeating Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud of the DAP by a 238-vote majority in today’s by-election.
Mah, 53, obtained 20,157 votes compared with Dyana Sofya, 27, who garnered 19,919 votes.
