Be firm against culprits in MH17 tragedy

Nurul-Izzah-Defamation-Suit
SHAH ALAM: PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar today urged Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to emulate the firmness demonstrated by Dutch Premier Mark Rutte in seeking justice for the victims of the MH17 tragedy.

Citing Rutte’s insistence on heading investigations into the downing of the Malaysia Airlines flight, she said Najib must show a similar strength of character in taking action against the perpetrators of the crime.

She did not mention Najib by name, but the reference was obvious in her speech at the PKR Congress.
“What we ask for is that the leadership of the central government take clear follow-up action – be it through the International Court of Justice or through participation in the International Criminal Court – to ensure the punishment of those responsible for the murder of our compatriots and guests.”
Izzah’s reference to the MH17 tragedy came at the beginning of a speech that dealt mostly with the role of women in nation-building.
She mentioned her mother, Wan Azizah Ismail, as being among Malaysian women leaders who have made contributions to the nation.
“History has shown that women have had a big influence in shaping the nation that we have today,” she said.
“Figures like Shamsiah Fakeh, Tan Sri Paduka Seri (Dr) Aishah Ghani, Tan Sri Datin Sri Cempaka Kontik Kamariah and Dato’ Seri Dr.Wan Azizah Wan Ismail each in their own way has contributed to Malaysia.”
