‘Don’t play gutter politics’

Kit-SiangPETALING JAYA: DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang launched a stinging attack on MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, calling him a “liar” who has resorted to “gutter politics” to get a better deal for MCA in an impending cabinet reshuffle.
“Liow should not try to bargain for more MCA posts in the impending cabinet reshuffle by telling blatant lies about DAP leaders without batting an eyelid,” said Lim, who is also Gelang Patah MP.
He said MCA has been boasting that it would be getting three ministerial and five deputy ministerial posts in a cabinet reshuffle.

But there is speculation that MCA may finally be allotted with a miserable allocation of one ministerial and two deputy ministerial posts, he said.
Lim said that Liow should not try to up the ante to get better ministerial and deputy ministerial allocations from Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak by making baseless attacks on DAP leaders through falsehoods.
For instance, he pointed out that Liow had recently alleged that when Lim met PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat during a courtesy call on the latter in Kota Baru last Thursday he said, “I (Lim) was so weak that I dared not mention that the hudud issue was one of the reasons for DAP’s defeat in the Teluk Intan by-election”.
“I really pity Liow that he had to descend to such gutter politics to raise his importance with Umno leaders in the hope of getting a better deal for MCA in the cabinet reshuffle.”
Lim added it was time MCA ended its unethical and dishonest “gutter politics”.
